Folks, if you are reading this it means the upgrade to Drupal 5.01 was successful on this here website. The first post on this site also dealt with Drupal and was dated Mon, 2004-12-20 21:33. This was not my first Drupal website, in fact the intent all along was to have a place where I could talk a little bit about my experiences with some of the websites I set up. I believe I started here with Drupal 4.4.

I originally came from Movable Type which I loved. The koolaid for Movable Type was everywhere back in 2003. I visited all the websites with names like programminggirrl or whatever and learned the neat tricks of the trade. Happy Times.

For whatever reason and after trying lots of options I have come to the decision that Drupal was better for what I needed to do. Long live open source. Anyway, since Drupal does everything I need it to do, I have lots of websites built with Drupal. And I like them. Some may be a complete waste of bandwidth, but since it is me paying the bills, there is not a whole lot anybody else can do about it.

Meanwhile, it seems that the folks who wear the hats over at drupal.org kinda discourage the sorta thing I had in mind with this website. Turns out the proper way to explain things is to add to the official documentation over there. I am not opposed to doing that, but sometimes the very thing that makes life so wonderful for us site admins becomes so much mystery for the everyday user. I am very much the everyday user at drupal.org. I do try to help out on the forums, but actually creating handbook content has proven to be intimidating for me.

I will continue to use this website as a cheat sheet for my Drupal websites. I also intend to support the official documentation in any way I can. The goal is enlightenment. This website may indeed go the way of all flesh and pass into obvlivion. Truth is, I am likely to be much older than anyone who might be reading this. I also may be guilty of writing for myself only in some seemingly secret code at times. Do help me out and comment if things seem unclear.
