The word blog is as nebulus in use as much as it is untempting in pronunciation. A blog is a tool as well as a virtual location, and can be verbified as in "I ate breakfast and then I blogged it". The fact that the mention of a blog brings up, in the minds of many, a vision of self-important somebodies detailing the details of their consuming existance reveals the true power of blogs - this stuff is easy for anybody!

True enough, some folks have extended family and friends who demand blow-by-blow coverage on how their day is going, and for those, a blog is the image of convenience as one posting can keep an unlimited number of partisans instantaneously enlightened. Let's not let our envy blind us to a good thing, a blog can still be pressed into service for those of us who simply have a message and wish to put it across with the least amount of skilled involvement.

At it's purest sense, a blog is used to inform the public about issues, ideas and events. The typical reverse-chronological posting insures that the latest news always has the most importance, and the existence of commenting capability allows for interaction with the public in a way that can be revealing for both parties. Anyone wishing to know the expectations of their peers or customers need only to provide the space for feedback and remember to take it with a grain of salt.
